Highlights:

Hank Iba becomes the first coach to win back to back championships by leading Oklahoma A&M to the title.  He debuts in first place with a perfect 6-0 record.
Harold Olsen and Ohio State win the first ever national third place game in their fourth Final Four trip. Olsen improves his record to .600, tied for third place, and becomes the first coach ever to appear in ten tournament games.
A first round loss and consolation win for New York U. allows Howard Cann to improve his record to .429.
Colorado finishes third in the Western Regional in their third tournament appearance giving Frosty Cox enough games to debut on the list at .333 in last place.  Cox led Colorado to the final four in 1942 after losing two games in 1940 in their first NCAA tournament.  Cox also took Colorado to the more prestigous (at that time) NIT tournament, winning in 1940 and finishing second in the first NIT in 1938.  In 1940, Cox and Chick Davies of Duquesne became the first coaches to coach in both the NCAA and NIT tournaments in the same year, with Colorado beating Duquesne in the NIT championship game.
